Stefan Borson: The specific deal Man City could use to land Andoni Iraola
Manchester City could persuade Andoni Iraola to wait around for Pep Guardiola to leave the Etihad Stadium in the summer of 2027.
That is according to former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider Iraola will be thinking about leaving his job at Bournemouth ahead of his contract expiring on 30 June.
The Spanish boss has also been linked with Manchester United and Tottenham, with both clubs considering their managerial options.
Michael Carrick has enjoyed an unbeaten start as interim boss at Old Trafford, but it remains unclear whether he will land the job on a permanent basis.
Meanwhile, Igor Tudor has been appointed as Tottenham manager until the end of the season following Thomas Frank’s sacking.

What options does Andoni Iraola have to leave Bournemouth?
There has been plenty of speculation around Guardiola’s position at the Etihad over the past few months, with media reports suggesting he could leave Man City this summer.
However, the Catalan boss is under contract until June 2027 with the 10-time English champions.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Borson discussed Iraola’s situation and where he could end up if he were to leave Bournemouth.
“It feels like the summer would be the time that he would think about moving on, unless he could see in let’s say 12 months from this summer an even better opportunity coming along,” said Borson.
“The only one you can sort of think of would be if say Manchester City was to say, ‘There’s no job this summer, but Pep is leaving next summer, and we definitely will give you the job’, and he waits around for that.

“That’s the only real scenario I can see him not leaving Bournemouth if one of the Manchester or Tottenham jobs are offered to him.”
How Iraola has performed in successful spell at Bournemouth
Iraola has enjoyed a successful spell as Bournemouth manager since being appointed in the summer of 2023.
The Cherries finished ninth in the Premier League last season after just coming up short in their bid to secure European football.

The south-coast club are in the hunt once again this time around, with Iraola’s side currently sitting eighth in the top flight.
The Spaniard has a 37.9 per cent win rate since making the move to the Vitality Stadium two-and-a-half years ago.
