Stefan Borson: This is how much Arsenal have made already in the Champions League this season

Arsenal have already made £86.94million from their participation in the Champions League this season.

That is according to former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider that their success in winning the Champions League’s league phase will have rewarded them with additional funds.

The Gunners comfortably cruised through the league phase, winning all eight of their matches, being the only team to do so.

As a result, Arsenal may have already brought in a similar amount of money to what they did in last season’s edition.

Arsenal have already been awarded a similar sum to last season in the Champions League

Arsenal had a highly successful campaign in the Champions League last season when they reached the semi-finals.

On their route to the final four, they finished third in the league phase and then proceeded to knock out PSV and Real Madrid, before PSG finally ended their journey.

It had been confirmed that the Gunners brought in £102million for this impressive journey, and it is now believed that they are close to matching this.

When asked if they are on course to achieve similar figures this season, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Borson said: “I think they’ve already done it because of their performance, think they’re pretty much at the same level already.

“I think it’s £11m if you win the round 16, £12.5m if you win the quarter-finals, £15m if you win the semi-finals and £25m if you win the final.

“They’ve got another quite a big chunk to go after, but they’re already €100m up at the moment. I haven’t checked the numbers, but I think it’s €100m.

“So the current Champions League is a massive revenue generator. And of course, they’ve had the four home games, which are sell-outs, and they’ve got home advantage all the way through, I think it is now, because they finished top of the table.

“So they’re also well placed to make progress. But yeah, they’ll make great money this
season for the Champions League.”

When will Arsenal find out their round of 16 opponents?

For Arsenal, they will now have to wait for the Champions League knockout playoff phase to end before they know who they will be facing in the round of 16.

However, they do know it will be one of four sides.

The Gunners will either face the winner of Borussia Dortmund’s game against Atalanta or Olympiacos’ match against Bayer Leverkusen.

Once these ties have reached their conclusion, the draw for the round of 16 will take place on 27 February.
