Stefan Borson: This is how much Arsenal’s wage bill has increased after latest deals completed
Arsenal’s wage bill has increased dramatically over the past couple of seasons after challenging at the top of the Premier League table.
Arsenal’s wage bill is the fourth-highest in the Premier League, with their latest published accounts for 2023-24 revealing their wages surged from £234.8million in 2022-23 to £327.8m.
Former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider Arsenal’s wages have now “gone through the roof” following their signings in the recent summer transfer window.
Mikel Arteta’s side spent around £250m after signing Eberechi Eze, Viktor Gyokeres, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Martin Zubimendi, Christian Norgaard, Cristhian Mosquera and Noni Madueke on permanent deals, with Piero Hincapie also joining on loan.

Arsenal’s wages soar after multiple deals agreed
William Saliba has now agreed a new deal with Arsenal, with the defender extending his contract until 2030.
Meanwhile, Bukayo Saka is also close to agreeing new terms that could see him potentially become the Gunners’ top earner.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Borson said: “It’s not just Saka. I think they’ve got a number of deals that they’ve done, and their wage bill has gone through the roof again.
“There was a period where Arsenal really got the wage bill sort of reset, so after they got rid of players like Pepe, and there are a few players where it sort of cleared out the old very high salaries, the Ozil’s and players like this, and brought the wage bill right back down.
“It was in a period where they weren’t getting into the Champions League, so it was appropriate for where the cost base should be.”

Arsenal have finished runners-up in the Premier League in each of the past two seasons.
Arsenal’s wage bill to reach £400m after summer signings
Arteta was backed in the summer transfer window, leading to an inevitable increase in the Gunners’ wages.
Borson said: “Their wages started to tick up over the last couple of years because clearly they’ve been more successful on the pitch.
“They’ve been qualifying for the Champions League. The players have wanted new contracts. They wanted to keep those players, so you started to see it tick up.
“I think it’ll be approaching £400m for the current season, which is really high for Arsenal. There’s no way around that.”
Arteta’s side currently sit top of the Premier League table heading into the international break.
