Stefan Borson: This is how much Crystal Palace will accept for Marc Guehi

Crystal Palace have a decision to make around Marc Guehi’s immediate future at Selhurst Park.

Guehi’s proposed summer move to Liverpool collapsed on deadline day despite a £35million deal being agreed between the two parties.

Palace want to avoid losing Guehi on a free transfer when his contract at Selhurst Park expires on 30 June.

It is believed Liverpool remain keen on signing the England international, but they have to decide on whether to make a new offer this month or risk a battle for his signature in the summer.

Manchester City have also been linked with a move to sign Guehi alongside multiple top clubs in the Premier League and across Europe.

Why Crystal Palace will accept Marc Guehi offer

Former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider Palace could be forced to accept between £30-35m for Guehi from a business perspective.

However, Oliver Glasner is keen to keep hold of his captain as the Eagles look to progress into the latter rounds of the Conference League.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Palace’s transfer plans this month, Borson said: “They’re going to go a long way in the Conference League. They’re going to have a lot of games left. They need a squad.

“And of course, we’ve got the Guehi issue that’s a real risk to them.

“I think it’s likely that if somebody puts £30-35m on the table, they’re going to have to take it from a business perspective.”

Borson previously told Football Insider Liverpool could bid to sign Guehi on deadline day as Arne Slot looks to improve his defensive options.

Guehi could be about to receive Real Madrid offer

It remains to be seen how Selhurst Park chiefs will approach the situation, but it is believed Guehi won’t push for a move away from Palace this month.

However, interest has mounted in the 25-year-old, who is now able to sign a pre-contract agreement with clubs overseas.

Real Madrid could be about to step up their bid to sign Guehi, with the La Liga giants securing multiple stars on free transfers in recent years.

Guehi has been ever present for Palace this season, registering three goals and four assists in 31 appearances for Glasner’s side.
