Stefan Borson: This is how much Man United will accept for Joshua Zirkzee after Everton swoop

Manchester United have a decision to make over the future of Joshua Zirkzee following interest from Everton and West Ham.

Zirkzee could quit Man United in January as he is understood to be unhappy after falling down the pecking order at Old Trafford.

Football Insider revealed on 12 October West Ham are in the race to sign Zirkzee alongside the likes of Italian clubs Juventus and Como.

Everton have now also been linked with Zirkzee, with Man United potentially willing to cash in on the striker if they can recoup a large portion of the £36.5million fee they paid Bologna to sign him in the summer of 2024.

Man United could agree £30m Joshua Zirkzee deal

Former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider Man United could receive around £30m for Zirkzee following Everton and West Ham’s interest.

Everton are looking to strengthen their striker options in January, with David Moyes keen to add more firepower to his side.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Borson said: “Well, he’s a very sellable player. I mean, they didn’t pay £60-70m for him. They paid between £30-40m.

“His wages are probably manageable. He’s been an okay player. He’s not been a complete disaster. I think there are signs that he could be worth £30m to somebody.

“I think the sorts of teams that could afford £30m or a loan with a view to a £30m deal are the Everton’s and the West Ham’s of this world.”

West Ham are considering their transfer plans ahead of the January window after replacing Graham Potter with Nuno Espirito Santo last month.

Man United told to agree Zirkzee deal

Zirkzee has played just 82 minutes for Man United this season, with Ruben Amorim currently preferring other attacking options over the 24-year-old.

Borson said: “I think it’s perfectly plausible that he will leave. He’s got very little game time this season, so I would think there’s a good chance that that sort of deal would be done either in January or in the summer unless he gets himself into the team.

“But it’s a very doable deal. United won’t make a big profit on it, but they won’t make a big loss. It’s just moving on a player who is outside of the core group going forward. I think that makes sense.”

Zirkzee has registered just seven goals and three assists in 53 appearances since making the move to Old Trafford.
