Steve Bruce odds revealed to replace Eric Ramsay as West Brom manager in surprise return

Eric Ramsay’s reign at West Brom has started off in dire fashion.

Two games in, the manager has overseen two defeats, including a damning 5-0 loss at The Hawthorns to Norwich City.

As a result, Ramsay is already an outsider to be sacked next in the Championship, with the Baggies edging ever closer to the relegation zone.

Therefore, a new coach may be needed soon at the Black Country club, with the bookies making Steve Bruce an early outsider for the job.

Steve Bruce 20/1 to replace Eric Ramsay at West Brom

Bruce was previously West Brom’s manager for a short spell in 2022.

However, the former Man United captain had a dreadful time at The Hawthorns and only lasted 32 matches.

During this period, he won just eight games and was sacked in October 2022 with the Baggies in 22nd, their lowest league position for more than two decades.

Since then, things have not got much better for Bruce, and he was soon sacked at Blackpool in October 2025 after just over a year in charge.

Nevertheless, Bruce has continued to be linked to Championship jobs, and now he has been tipped for a surprise return to The Hawthorns.

One bookmaker has the manager at 20/1 to come back. While this does make him an outsider, the odds are perhaps too short for comfort for many Baggies supporters.

Who else is tipped to replace Ramsay?

Currently, the favourite for the role is Russell Martin at 5/1. The manager has been out of work since his disastrous short spell at Rangers earlier this season.

The second favourite for the West Brom job is Carlos Corberan at 7/1.

It would no doubt be a sensational comeback for the former Baggies manager, who left West Brom last season to take charge of Valencia, a club he still resides at to this day.

Following this is Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at 8/1. Solskjaer was heavily linked with a caretaker position at Man United when Ruben Amorim was sacked, only for Michael Carrick to beat him to the vacancy.

Lee Carsley and Michael Skubala are also considered outsiders for the role at 10/1.

Skubala, in particular, has impressed in the EFL in recent seasons and is currently on track to guide Lincoln City to the Championship next season, with the side second in League One.

However, it remains to be seen if Skubala would be willing to go to West Brom at present, given the fact that the two clubs could be swapping places come May.
