Steven Davis could be set for Rangers return after ‘huge’ twist – expert
Alan Hutton is hopeful Steven Davis has not played his last game for Rangers.
But, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gers defender suggested Davis could look at going into coaching if he can’t recover from his injury.
On Saturday (24 December), the Light Blues confirmed that the 37-year-old will miss the rest of the season after suffering a knee injury.
The Northern Ireland international has just over six months left on his contract at Ibrox and many fans fear he may have placed his last game in a Rangers shirt.
The midfielder has made 16 appearances for the Gers so far this season and has scored two goals and provided one assist.
Most of those appearances have been from the bench but he has been a key member of Michael Beale’s squad since he took charge.
When asked if Davis has played his last game for the Gers, Hutton told Football Insider: “I hope not.
“It was huge news that came out that he had done his ACL in training. I believe he still has a lot to give and I think Michael Beale knows that.

“His contract is running out but as he has shown he is a calming influence on the team. Possibly he could be looking to go into coaching.
“But I think he has still got time and something to give if he gets over the injury which is obviously a serious one.“
