Steven Gerrard backed to agree Premier League job after Aston Villa news – Agbonlahor

Gabby Agbonlahor has backed Steven Gerrard to get another Premier League job after his sacking at Aston Villa.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Aston Villa’s record Premier League goalscorer insisted he was “100 per cent” sure Gerrard would be back in management.

His tenure at Aston Villa came to an end last week (20 October) when he was sacked following a run of just one win in nine Premier League games.

Aston Villa confirmed the day after that his coaching staff – Gary McAllister, Neil Critchley, Tom Culshaw, Jordan Milsom and Scott Mason – had all also left the club.

“First of all, people are quick to forget what Steven Gerrard did at Rangers,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider‘s Connor Whitley.

“He’s come to Aston Villa, it’s not worked out for whatever reason but that doesn’t mean you just stop.

“Frank Lampard went to Chelsea, it didn’t work out, and he went to Everton.

“Maybe it’s a case of him taking a little break and working out what the best job is for him.

“I’m 100 per cent sure we’ll see Steven Gerrard back in management. Whether that’s back in the Premier League or the Championship or in Europe, I definitely don’t think this is the end of Steven Gerrard.

“Hopefully he gets another job soon, and it could be in the Premier League, because he’s a well-respected man.

“Everyone was buzzing when he got the job so I don’t think Aston Villa fans can say he shouldn’t have got it.

“It didn’t work out and that’s just one of those things, it doesn’t work out for managers.

“I’m sure he’ll be looking forward to managing again and he’ll choose the right job for him.”
