Steven Gerrard may have called out John McGinn after critical Aston Villa reveal – Agbonlahor
Gabby Agbonlahor has called on John McGinn to score more goals for Aston Villa next season.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Aston Villa’s record Premier League goalscorer insisted the club cannot rely on only Ollie Watkins, Danny Ings and Jacob Ramsey to find the net next season.
As quoted by Birmingham Live after Villa’s 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace on Sunday (15 May), Steven Gerrard insisted his side need to be more “clinical” and “ruthless” in front of goal.

Watkins, Ings and Ramsey have scored 24 of Aston Villa’s 49 top-flight goals this term while McGinn has found the net just three times.
“Gerrard will be a bit frustrated deep down with the some of the results this season,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“There have been games where they have been the better team but not got the three points and drawn or lost.
“That’s the difference they need for next season, be more clinical and finish teams off, like they did to Southampton.
“That can be the difference between pushing for the top-six and being a mid-table team.
“He will expect better from his team and I think he’s going to start expecting more from some players in the team.
“It seems to be Watkins, Ings and Ramsey who score the goals. He’ll want more goals from other midfielders.

“John McGinn is a great striker of the ball, he will want to get forward and score more goals himself.
“Even centre-halves from set-pieces. Can they get more goals? As a team, more individuals will want to get on the scoresheet, for sure.”
