‘Strange’ – Paul Tisdale slammed at Celtic after Daizen Maeda revelation emerges
Celtic’s Head of Football Operations, Paul Tisdale, has been criticised following Daizen Maeda’s transfer claim.
The Hoops have made an underwhelming start to the campaign, crashing out of the Champions League to Kairat Almaty and suffering from a lack of transfer activity.
Celtic’s 0-0 draw against Rangers was heavily criticised, before Brendan Rodgers signed Sebastian Tounekti and Kelechi Iheanacho.
Iheanacho joined Celtic as a free agent after target Kasper Dolberg decided to join Ajax over a move to Glasgow.

Criticism aimed at Celtic amid Daizen Maeda stance
Celtic winger Daizen Maeda has admitted that he wanted to leave the club in the summer, but was stopped from doing so.
BBC Sport’s Tom English believes the revelation by Maeda “is another thing on a growing list of thing that reflect badly on Celtic.”
Daizen Maeda | Stats |
Appearances | 165 |
Goals | 65 |
Assists | 30 |
English continued: “Playing standards, recruitment, communications – all in a strange state.
“Paul Tisdale is director of football operations. What’s he directing?
“No word from the board.”
Celtic fan groups have wrote to the board to demand answers and accountability to the lack of transfer activity, and have threatened to boycott Europa League fixtures.
Unrest growing at Celtic
Football Insider Verdict
Celtic are currently in a mess off the field, with issues needing to be sorted before the next transfer window.
The club are in a strong financial position, and many believe money should have been spent to further increase the quality of the squad.

The timing of the transfers were also a major issue for supporters, with three new additions signed after their exit the Champions League.
Celtic are now in action until January with limited attacking options available to Rodgers, and Maeda may want to force a move in the winter window after not getting his wish during the summer.
The pressure on the Celtic hierarchy is starting to grow, and there could be change at the top if fan’s disdain starts to affect more than just performances.
