Summerville and Dan James to cash in as Leeds £15m agreement revealed – Sources
Leeds United will pay their players hefty performance-related bonuses if they are promoted later this year, sources have told Football Insider.
The Whites have won their last seven games to move above Ipswich Town and Southampton in the race for automatic promotion to the Premier League.
Football Insider revealed on Thursday (15 February) that Leeds will have to pay out around £15million in bonuses if they are promoted.
Those bonuses were pre-agreed before the start of the 2023-24 campaign.
Several Whites players saw their wages reduced last summer as a result of relegation – with those who didn’t being shipped out on loan to the English top tier and European leagues.
Summerville and James among Leeds stars set to cash in on potential promotion
Normal procedure in the event of promotion is a blanket increase in salary for the squad, but a well-placed source has told Football Insider that several stars are also set to negotiate summer contract renewals.
Key men Patrick Bamford, Illan Meslier, Crysencio Summerville and Dan James are all out of contract at Elland Road in June 2026.
Summerville and James have been top performers for Daniel Farke’s side this term as they vie for an immediate return to the Premier League.

Also in line for a reward in the event of promotion is Farke – with Football Insider revealing on Thursday (15 February) that talks will begin over a “big” pay rise in the off-season.
That is despite him already having more than three years left to run on his current deal.
