Kieran Maguire: ‘It’s all gone wrong’ at Sunderland amid Kyril Louis-Dreyfus apology
Kyril Louis-Dreyfus has to win over the Sunderland fans all over again after the debacle over the club’s ownership structure.
That is the view of finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the challenges facing the 25-year-old.
Louis-Dreyfus bought a controlling stake in Sunderland from the previous Madrox regime in February last year.

But it has since emerged that he owns just 41 per cent of the club, which came as a shock to fans who believed he had completed a majority buyout.
Per Chronicle Live on Monday (7 March), Louis-Dreyfus apologised to “fans who felt misled” and admitted he “misjudged the sensitivity” of the issue.
Maguire claims that the Frenchman has serious work to do to get back in the good books with the Stadium of Light faithful.
“Sunderland have been through a really tough time,” he told Football Insider‘s Adam Williams
“They saw Louis-Dreyfus coming in as an opportunity to forget some of the worse elements of the Donald and Methven reign.
“But now it’s coming across as the new dawn fading. I think he has got to win over the fans again.
“He has scored a few own goals to date and it’s not going to be easy for him. Transparency, that’s where it’s all gone wrong.
“Having said that, if they get promoted, a lot of these things will be forgiven.”

Sunderland are currently 5th in League One after a run of four games without defeat.
Alex Neil’s side are in action against bottom-of-the-table Crewe Alexandra tomorrow (12 March).
