Sunderland look to have hijacked Martin O’Neill’s newest Celtic transfer deal as Instagram activity surfaces

Celtic appear to have lost out on their latest transfer target to Sunderland after a late twist in their proposed deal.

Martin O’Neill was re-hired by Celtic last week, after Wilfried Nancy had been relieved of his duties.

And the Northern Irishman has got straight to work, and is already lining up several targets to bolster his squad, although unsuccessfully so far.

Celtic were interested in bringing back Kyogo Furuhashi on loan from Birmingham City, but the Japan international now looks set to fight for his place in the Championship.

And Kieron Bowie has also emerged as a target for Celtic, although plenty of competition is expected for the future of the 23-year-old.

Jocelin Ta Bi’s Instagram activity reveals next club after Celtic breakdown

Celtic were in advanced talks to sign Jocelin Ta Bi from Israeli club Maccabi Netanya just weeks ago, but the move has broken down.

Scans reportedly revealed a knee issue for the winger, with the Bhoys pulling out of an agreement after it emerged that surgery would be required.

The Ivorian forward is an exciting talent, and would have cost decision-makers at Parkhead around £2million to sign.

And in a stunning twist, Sebastian Denis reported on Monday that Ta Bi is now set to sign for a Premier League club after a late intervention.

The 20-year-old’s Instagram activity has given away who that club may well be, after he followed Sunderland on the social media platform.

Martin O’Neill to be furious after what he told Celtic board

It said everything about the situation O’Neill has stumbled upon at Parkhead, that after his side had beaten Dundee United 4-0 on Saturday, he was keen to talk about new signings.

“It’s not changed to me,” he said. “Not at all. We need some people in. Honestly, we are working on it. It doesn’t seem as if you believe me, but we’re actually working on it.

“I am hopeful that we are going to get some people in, but just when you think that something might happen, things change around.”

Well, that is exactly what has happened, and the Northern Irishman will be furious that his words were not taken note of. January will slip away quickly if Celtic are not careful.
