Sunderland make ‘huge’ move to stop Dortmund signing Jobe Bellingham – sources
Sunderland will slap a “huge price tag” on midfield star Jobe Bellingham to ward off interest from Borussia Dortmund, sources have told Football Insider.
The Black Cats are flying in the Championship and dreaming of promotion to the Premier League for the 2025-26 campaign.
However, Bellingham is one of several stars attracting attention from clubs in the Premier League and top European leagues.
Borussia Dortmund are keen on the 19-year-old having already nurtured his brother, Jude, and sold him on to Real Madrid for a huge profit.
Sunderland star Bellingham has notched two goals and one assist in 13 Championship games this term with Regis Le Bris’ side joint-top of the second tier.
Sources say the interest is flattering for the teenager but he is “unlikely” to move in January while the north-east side continue to chase promotion.
Sunderland are in a strong position with the midfielder under contract at the Stadium of Light until June 2028 after signing an extension in the off-season.

The club also feel Bellingham is getting valuable first-team football and the opportunity to express himself in the Championship this term.
He joined Sunderland from Birmingham in 2023 and the Black Cats stand to make a huge profit on their investment, which was widely reported to be around £3million.

Bellingham made 47 appearances across all competitions last term, notching seven goals and one assist.
He has recently received a maiden call-up for England’s Under-21 side ahead of friendlies against Spain and the Netherlands this month.
