Super-computer predicts Leeds end of season finish
By Harvey Byrne
A ‘super-computer’ tasked with the job of predicting how the Championship table will finish has tipped Leeds to finish in third place.
The BBC have shared the results of the technology known as SAM (Sports Analytics Machine), which was built by Ian McHale, professor of sports analytics at the University of Salford, with his colleague Dr Tarak Kharrat.
The Yorkshire giant’s have impressed this season and currently sit in third place of England’s second tier.
The super-computer believes that Leeds will maintain their strong showing, winning 28 more points from their remaining 20 matches.
However, it also believes there will be a large gap between Garry Monk’s side and second placed Brighton, totalling 18 points between the two.
It is felt that Leeds fans would take third place if offered to them at the moment.
The placing would mark their highest finish since they suffered relegation from the Premier League in 2004.
They last finished in the play-offs of the English second tier in 2006, where they lost 3-0 against Watford at the Millenium Stadium.
They will now be eager to go one step further and return to the top flight after 13 years away.
In other Leeds news, this Whites attacking midfielder is heading to the Premier League sooner rather than later.
