‘Surprised’ ex-Leeds United star shares ‘major concern’ over Marsch after ‘research’
Jesse Marsch can’t afford to copy Marcelo Bielsa’s style of play if Leeds United are to stay in the Premier League.
That’s according to former Whites stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider after looking into the American’s background.
On Monday (28 February), the Whites announced the arrival of Marsch on a three-and-a-half-year contract.
The announcement came just 24 hours after the dismissal of fan favourite Bielsa.
Kenny has looked into Marsch’s background and shared his concern after spotting similarities with Bielsa’s style of play.
“It’s a tough one, only time will tell if he’s the right man for the job,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“I’ts a bit strange they have appointed someone without Premier League experience.
“With the position they are in, I feel like that’s an important thing to have.
“I have done my research on him, as I’m sure we all have, and it looks like he plays the same way as Bielsa.
“That’s a major concern because something has to change. They can’t keep shipping goals as they have done.
“I’m a bit surprised they haven’t got one of those Premier League experienced managers but, as I say, let’s see how he does.”

Marsch had been out of work since December after RB Leipzig sacked him after just four months in charge.
His first game as Whites boss comes against Leicester on Saturday (5 March).
