Chris Sutton delivers bold verdict on Rangers’ future under Murty

Former Celtic striker and BT Sports pundit Chris Sutton has said that Rangers fans will have something to look forward to in the future with Graeme Murty in the manager’s seat.

The former youth coach was appointed the club’s permanent boss last week after taking charge in a caretaker manager’s role following the departure of Pedro Caixinha in October, with a deal which will keep him in the dugout until the end of the current season.

He had made a good start to his career as Rangers’ boss, winning six of his opening eight games in charge, although he has seen his side slip to two successive defeats to St Johnstone and Kilmarnock in recent outings.

Speaking of the club’s future under the 43-year-old, Sutton boldly stated that fans should be looking forward to their time with the current boss in charge, after slating the team’s displays under former manager Caixinha.

He told BT Sports, via their official football Twitter account: “Under Pedro they were playing like turkeys.

“I think now that we’re getting near Christmas with Graeme Murty, if you’re a Rangers fan there’s a little bit to cheer about.”

Rangers are currently sitting third in Scotland’s top flight, behind league leaders and Old Firm rivals Celtic and last season’s runners up Aberdeen, but will be looking to leapfrog the Dons into second place with victory over Motherwell on Wednesday.
