‘Always tough’ – Scott Brown makes admission after Celtic draw v Rangers
Celtic captain Scott Brown has focused on the successful year his team had have after the 0-0 draw with Rangers rounded off 2017 on Saturday.
The Hoops ended a year which saw them clinch their first domestic treble since 2001 on a bit of a damp squib after the draw with their oldest rivals, but as quoted by the club’s Twitter account, the midfield mainstay feels that it’s been a good year for the Bhoys.
He also underlined the fact that Brendan Rodgers is unbeaten in matches against Rangers since taking over at Celtic Park in May 2016 while also admitted that it was always going to be a hard game against the Gers.
“These games are always tough but we have had six wins and two draws against them since the manager arrived, so it’s not been too bad for us and it’s been a great year overall and you have to take the positives out of that.”
Brown was one of the few players who played to the best of their abilities as the Hoops struggled after dominating the early stages of the game.
James Forrest game close with a shot turned round the post by Wes Foderingham before Scott Sinclair missed an absolute sitter on the stroke of half-time.
Rangers must have taken heart from that, as they bossed the second-half, Craig Gordon keeping the Bhoys level with a wonder-save from a close range Alfredo Morelos effort. The same player also missed a great chance as he sent free header wide of goal.
Despite the draw, the Bhoys are still 11 points clear of Rangers in the Scottish Premiership and they remain eight points clear of second placed Aberdeen, who could only draw 0-0 with Hearts.
