‘Take that armband off him’ – West Ham fans rip into Jarrod Bowen after spotting what he did vs Liverpool

West Ham fans have vented their anger at captain Jarrod Bowen after what he failed to do to avoid Lucas Paqueta getting sent off vs Liverpool.

Alexander Isak and Cody Gakpo scored as Liverpool beat West Ham 2-0 at the London Stadium to keep the Hammers hovering above the bottom three.

West Ham‘s three-game unbeaten run under Nuno Espirito Santo therefore came to an end, with back-to-back away games up next for the London club.

Lucas Paqueta will be unavailable for the trip to Man United, after picking up two yellow cards against Liverpool.

Jarrod Bowen blasted by West Ham fans amid Lucas Paqueta red

Paqueta picked up two yellow cards in quick succession when he persistently protested at referee Darren England.

In July, Paqueta was cleared of spot-fixing charges by an independent regulatory commission following an investigation launched by the FA.

West Ham fans believe captain Jarrod Bowen should have done more to keep Paqueta away from the referee to avoid him being sent off.

Bowen has been captain of West Ham since 2024, and is a fan favourite at the London Stadium.

Some believe though that the 28-year-old is not captain material, and that he should be stripped of the armband.

He's a liability.

First yellow shouldn't have happened and that's on the ref. Bowen as captain should have been more forceful in getting Paqueta away. Paqueta in true South American fashion is too emotional 🤣

I love Bowen but that red card really shows how bad he really is as a captain. No effort to push Paq away at all. Just standing there watching it happen. Obviously Paqueta is 100% at fault for his own actions but any other team that player is pushed away.

Fecking angry. Time for Paqueta to go. Lets see if our manager has what it takes to drop him then get rid in January. Am more disgusted by Bowens lack of leadership. He is not a captain, Noble would have had that sorted in minutes. Take that armband off him.

Poor tactical set up has lost us this game. We didn’t start showing any attacking intent until Paqueta was sent off, which was totally his own stupidity. This was the worst performance after hearing the sad news of losing a club legend in Billy Bonds. Paqueta should be ashamed ⚒️

You had one job, to win for Billy Bonds. Bowen ain't captain material, he should have stopped Paqueta, even if he had to drag him away from the ref. Lucas getting sent off cost us dearly.
