Takumi Minamino: Liverpool star may quit after ‘incredible’ news – pundit

Takumi Minamino will be “disappointed” with his game time at Liverpool and may quit the club in the summer.

That is the view of ex-Man City and England full-back Danny Mills, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Minamino’s situation after his heroics for Liverpool in midweek.

The midfielder scored a brace in the 2-1 win over Norwich City on Wednesday (2 March) as the Reds progressed to the FA Cup quarter-finals for the first time under Jurgen Klopp.

He was then axed from the starting XI as Liverpool beat West Ham1-0 at Anfield yesterday (5 March).

As quoted by the Daily Mail after the Norwich win, Klopp claimed Minamino’s performance was “incredible” and his best in a Liverpool shirt.

Asked for his assessment of Minamio’s Anfield status, Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “It hasn’t quite worked out for him at Liverpool.

“He hasn’t quite got up to that level and hasn’t really had enough opportunities or he hasn’t been able to force enough opportunities to play regularly.

“Yes, he’ll be disappointed. I know he’s been part of the squad but he will want more game time.

“I’m sure he will want to play and as he is not then I’m pretty sure he’ll be thinking about his future.”

Liverpool

Despite his stop-start season, Minamino still has nine goals and an assist in 22 games across all competitions for the Reds this term.

The Japan international, 27, is under contract at Anfield until the summer of 2024.

In other news, it can be revealed Liverpool are on course to make a “phenomenal” £550million announcement.
