TalkSPORT pundit raves about Tottenham ace, highlights major weakness

Former Ipswich player Matt Holland believes that Tottenham’s Mousa Dembele is a fantastic midfielder, but adding goals to his game would be the only room for improvement.

The 29-year-old has developed into an important player for Spurs since his arrival in 2012 and is a mainstay in Mauricio Pochettino’s starting line-up.

The Belgium international has formed a strong partnership alongside Victor Wanyama in the heart of midfield, with the duo regarded as two of the strongest players in the Premier League.

TalkSport pundit Holland has raved about the qualities of Dembele, but feels his one area to work on is his goal threat.

“I would say that I think he should score more goals, that’s one thing that stands out, but he’s got everything,” Holland said, as quoted by the club’s official website. “He’s so difficult to dispossess, his passing, his vision, he’s got everything you want from a central midfielder.”

Dembele is renowned for his powerful style in the centre of the park and his ability to retain possession.

However, he does not have much of an attacking threat in front of goal and is yet to score during his 29 appearances this season.

He has netted only four times in 187 appearances for Spurs and has never been considered to be a goal threat since he joined from Fulham.

Dembele is a specialist at breaking up play and realising his dangerous attacking teammates, with Dele Alli, Christian Eriksen and Harry Kane all in deadly form this season.
