Tammy Abraham to seal Aston Villa return imminently as manager green lights transfer

Tammy Abraham appears to be on the verge of re-joining Aston Villa in a surprise January switch.

The 28-year-old has been away from the Premier League since he left Chelsea in the summer of 2021, but his return could be about to take place in the coming weeks.

Aston Villa have shown interest in Abraham in the early stages of the January window, as they look to bolster their frontline ahead of the second half of the season.

Unai Emery’s men are currently enjoying a fantastic run of form that has seen them become outside contenders for the league title, and they will be desperate to strengthen their hand as much as possible as a result.

Besiktas happy for Tammy Abraham to join Aston Villa

Former West Ham scout Mick Brown told Football Insider last summer that West Ham were keen to bring Abraham back to the Premier League, but he is technically still a Roma player, despite having spent the last 18 months out on loan away from his parent club.

The striker spent last season with AC Milan and has been playing his football in Turkey with Besiktas this term.

The Englishman already has 12 goals from 24 games for his latest loan club, who also have an obligation to buy him at the end of the season if certain conditions are met.

However, Besiktas have already decided that they are willing to forfeit that deal amid the interest from Aston Villa, according to Turkish outlet Fanatik.

The club hierarchy have already held discussions with manager Sergen Yalcin, who has given the green light for them to allow Abraham to leave them in January.

The player himself is also understood to be keen to leave them before the end of the month.

Villa will obviously require approval from Roma if they are to seal a move for the frontman, but with the Italian giants having seemed desperate to get him off their books last summer, it would be a huge surprise if they offer any resistance.

With that in mind, if Villa are keen to progress their interest further, then a deal for Abraham could potentially be reached imminently, with all parties likely on board.

Tammy Abraham arrival to finish Evann Guessand at Villa Park

Aston Villa fans have been fuming with Evann Guessand for the lack of impact that he has made following his initial £26million arrival in the summer.

The Ivorian is still waiting for his first league goal in English football, and has started just six games in the Premier League, with Emery clearly still unconvinced by him so far.

If Villa are able to get a deal for Abraham over the line before the end of the window, then they will surely try and find a way of getting Guessand off their hands.

He is only a few months into his time in England, but it has been diastrous for him so far, and he has shown few signs of being able to effectively adapt to the level.

With that in mind, if Abraham were to come in, it would surely open the door for Guessand to head in the other direction, perhaps on a loan deal until the end of the season.
