‘The biggest threat’ – Matt Le Tissier reveals his front-runner for the Premier League title, it’s not Arsenal
Man City are still the most likely to win the Premier League title despite Arsenal currently sitting top of the league after eight games.
That is according to Premier League legend Matt Le Tissier, who has exclusively told Football Insider that he believes Pep Guardiola‘s side are the team to beat in the top-flight this season despite some lingering defensive issues.
Man City failed to win the title for the first time since 2020 last season as they suffered a drastic drop-off in form over an extended period for the first time ever under Guardiola.
They have been able to improve this time around after clinching third place last term, with five wins from their first eight games to currently sit second in the Premier League.
Arsenal have set the pace at the summit of the table in the early stages of this campaign, and they retained a three-point lead on the Citizens after a 1-0 win at Fulham on Saturday (18 October).

Arsenal and Man City in the Premier League top two after weekend wins
Arsenal finished 10 points behind title-winners Liverpool in 2024-25 after Arne Slot‘s side cruised through the majority of the season but struggled somewhat towards the latter stages.
Their issues have continued into this campaign, while Mikel Arteta‘s men have improved even further and are currently in the midst of an eight-game unbeaten run, with seven wins in that same time-frame.
Arsenal and Man City played out a 1-1 draw last month at the Emirates Stadium as Gabriel Martinelli clinched a point in added time, and they look likely to be embroiled in a battle with each other for the title as time goes on considering Liverpool’s current woes.
Erling Haaland notched a brace against Everton to secure a 2-0 victory on Saturday (18 October) and to extend City’s own unbeaten run to eight games.
The burly Norwegian striker has been in electric form so far this term, with 14 goals in 10 appearances in all competitions, and he is set to be the key to any success they may taste in 2025-26.
Le Tissier backs Man City for the Premier League title
Le Tissier predicted that Liverpool would win the league again while exclusively speaking to Football Insider before the start of the campaign, with City as their closest rivals, but the outlook after the first eight games has now changed his mind.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former England and Southampton striker insisted that, despite Arsenal’s impressive start, Guardiola’s side are still the most likely, in his eyes, to lift the Premier League trophy next May.
He said: “I think the bookies will probably have them (Arsenal) down as favourites now. I still think Man City are going to be a real key player in this title race.

“They’ve got themselves into second place, I think they’re the top scorers in the league. If they can just sort out the slight defensive issues that they may have on the counter on occasions, I think they’ll be the ones to beat in this title race, to be honest.
“Arsenal are picking up the results, they might not even be playing that great, but still picking up points where it’s necessary, but I do think Man City are going to be the biggest threats.”
