The four managers Nottingham Forest have shortlisted to replace Ange Postecoglou

Ange Postecoglou is under increasing pressure to turn his fortunes at Nottingham Forest around after a terrible start to life at the City Ground.

The Australian has drawn two and lost five of his opening seven games, with Nottingham Forest hosting Chelsea next on Saturday, October 18.

Football Insider understands that Forest could sack Postecoglou if he fails to win any of his next four matches in charge, including a home clash against Porto in the Europa League.

But with the Forest squad currently unhappy with Postecoglou, Evangelo Marinakis could wield his axe sooner and dismiss the 60-year-old.

As it stands, the Tricky Trees are already lining up replacements for the former Tottenham boss, and that will please many supporters.

Nottingham Forest line up Ange Postecoglou replacement

The international break has acted as an opportunity for Postecoglou to regroup and assess where he’s gone wrong.

However, a break from league action hasn’t eased the pressure mounting on him, as he delivered an explosive press conference on Friday.

“I guess from my perspective, I just don’t fit, not here, just in general,” Postecoglou said. “If you look at things through the prism that I am a failed manager who is lucky to get this job, I know you’re smirking at me, but that’s what’s been said, then of course these first five weeks looks like this guy is under pressure. But there is an alternative story.

He then went on to list his achievements at Tottenham, most notably finishing 5th in his first Premier League campaign and winning the Europa League in his second.

No one can sympathise with the Forest boss, though, and talkSPORT have now revealed who they’re lining up to replace him.

Former Everton boss Sean Dyche, Fulham’s Marco Silva, Mauricio Pochettino and Brendan Rodgers are all names being considered.

Marco Silva is best option for Forest

Whether Postecoglou can turn a bleak situation around remains to be seen, but arguably the best option on the list is Silva.

The Portuguese tactician has done a brilliant job at Craven Cottage, establishing Fulham as a mid table team despite operating with one of the lowest budgets in the league.

Expected goals conceded 2024/25
Arsenal – 39.98
Liverpool – 42.32
Fulham – 49.23

Fulham also play some very eye-catching football under his guidance, but they’re equally solid defensively. Last season, the West London outfit had the third fewest expected goals against conceded in the Premier League, behind only Arsenal and Liverpool.

That bodes well for a Nottingham Forest team currently shipping goals for fun. Meanwhile, Football Insider have already revealed that Silva is on Forest’s list to replace Postecoglou.
