‘The last straw’ – Matt Le Tissier drops verdict on Man United sacking Ruben Amorim
Ruben Amorim got a Man United lifeline after his embattled team beat Sunderland 2-0 at Old Trafford on Saturday.
But he is still walking a tightrope and his job is far from safe, according to Premier League legend Matt Le Tissier speaking exclusively to Football Insider.
United bounced back from their humiliating 3-1 defeat against Brentford on Bryan Mbeumo’s return to the GTech.
Following that loss, several big names have been linked with the Man United job, including Gareth Southgate, Oliver Glasner, and Xavi Hernandez.
And if the 20-time champions of England follow up their defeat to the West Londoners with a loss against Sunderland, it may spell the end of Amorim‘s time in Manchester.

Defeat to Sunderland will be the ‘last straw’
Le Tissier previously told Football Insider that he thinks Glasner would be a “terrific choice” to replace Amorim.
And the United hierarchy may be spurred into action even though they defeated an in-form Sunderland on Saturday.
The former England and Southampton striker told Football Insider exclusively that Sunderland could be Amorim’s last game in charge.

Le Tissier said: “Lots of speculation this weekend that Ruben Amorim will not survive if they had lost to Sunderland this afternoon, you can understand why.
“It’s been quite a time since he’s been there and things don’t seem to be improving.
“That’s the key to it all. If they were to suffer a defeat to Sunderland, I do feel like that could be the last straw. But he is still far from safe.”
Fabian Hurzeler a ‘top option’ to replace Ruben Amorim
Whilst none of them will come cheap, United do have plenty of options in the Premier League to target should Amorim depart.
Marco Silva was on Dan Ashworth‘s shortlist to replace Erik ten Hag, although Jim Ratcliffe ended up firing the then-sporting director, in part because he was left unimpressed with the names drawn up by the former Newcastle man.

Glasner has also been heavily touted, but the Austrian manager may be inclined to see the season out with his Crystal Palace side flying high in the league.
Alternatively, Fabian Hurzeler could be an appealing option for Man United, as the Red Devils’ former chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider exclusively.
