‘The next Bale’ – Liverpool fans react on Twitter to Woodburn display v Moldova
By Derek Smithson
Liverpool attacker Ben Woodburn helped Wales beat Moldova on Tuesday night – and the club’s supporters were raving about the youngster on Twitter.
The 17-year-old came off the bench to help his country to a 2-0 victory in a World Cup qualifier and has enjoyed a superb international break.
The left winger provided the assist for Hal Robson-Kanu’s opening goal with a storming run down the flank before an accurate cross to the striker.
Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey then added a late second and it means that Chris Coleman’s side stay in the race for qualification.
Woodburn struck a dramatic winner in a 1-0 victory over Austria on Saturday during his international debut and has made a phenomenal impact for his nation recently.
Liverpool fans have been extremely impressed by the cameo performances of the attacker and some have even dubbed him the “next Gareth Bale”.

Woodburn is a highly-rated talent at Anfield and his performances on the international stage could see him driven into Jurgen Klopp’s first-team plans.
The wide man has played nine times for Liverpool at senior level and scored against Championship side Leeds in the League Cup last season.
He is yet to be involved in the first team during the campaign and faces very tough competition from the likes of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Philippe Coutinho.
Woodburn is remarkably still just 17 and fans are already beginning to draw comparisons with his international team-mate Bale.
He will hope to go an emulate talented winger Bale, who was superb in the Premier League with Tottenham, before making his big-money move to Real Madrid.
In other Liverpool news, a Sky Sports pundit has stated the club’s player was exposed for England against Slovakia.
