‘The whispers I’m hearing’ – Antoine Semenyo to snub Chelsea and Man United offers and sign for different club

Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo could be set to reject a move to Chelsea or Manchester United in favour of a new option.

Semenyo has been electric at the start of the 2025-26 season and has been a massive contributing factor to the Cherries’ good form.

The 25-year-old sits second in the Premier League top scorer charts, with six goals to his name already this term.

Despite signing a new contract in the summer, Semenyo is still being linked with a Bournemouth exit as a result of his recent performances.

Semenyo to reject Premier League clubs

Chelsea are reportedly keeping tabs on Semenyo, joining the likes of Tottenham, Man United and Liverpool in the race for the winger.

However, Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes that the Ghana international will reject all the interested Premier League sides.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness insisted that Semenyo will favour an overseas move, revealing he has heard whispers that the attacker could be going to either Spain or Italy.

Wyness added that Chelsea would have been the favourites, but they haven’t really got room for him in their current squad.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “I’ve been looking but I don’t think Chelsea have really got a slot for him, although I thought they would have been favourites.

“I don’t see where he would fit into that just now. But then again, with Chelsea, you just never say never because they do churn and burn, as we know.

“I think in terms of Man United, it’d be a difficult move for him to make, and I think they’d even be stretched financially to be able to make that sort of deal happen.

“He might be thinking about an overseas move, those are the whispers I’m hearing. I think that he could be going somewhere like Spain or Italy. I don’t see him making that move in the Premier League.”

Bournemouth set lofty price tag on Semenyo

Bournemouth are set to demand £80million for Semenyo, as they aim to keep hold of their talisman.

The winger’s new five-year deal on the south coast gives the Cherries a lot of power in negotiations and means they can now set a much higher price tag.

Football Insider revealed last month that Bournemouth are braced for further interest in Semenyo next summer, but will not let him leave in January.

However, if Andoni Iraola’s side can continue their good form and qualify for Europe, then they will hope they can persuade the former Bristol City man to stay.
