‘They talked all week’ – Scott Brown aims dig at Rangers after Celtic win at Ibrox
Celtic captain Scott Brown has had a go at Rangers following the Hoops’ pivotal 3-2 victory at Ibrox.
The 32-year-old, whilst taking to the official Hoops Twitter account, claimed that the Light Blues had been full of talk this week, whilst he and his team-mates have been keeping things quiet.
“They talked all week but we do our talking on the park. Whether we win or lose, we fight to the last minute. We have won here a few times now & knew if we could do it whether we’d 11 or 10 men” Brown said.
Brown, a mainstay this season with 45 appearances so far, turned in his usual all-action performance, and he played a pivotal role in the Hoops’ second goal, as his long ball found Moussa Dembele who levelled the match on the stroke of half-time.
The win saw the Hoops move nine points clear of their closest rivals – with a game in hand – and it now seems only a matter of time until the Bhoys clinch their seventh title in a row.
Football Insider verdict
Brown will have taken great delight in the victory against a Rangers team who seemed to be extremely confident of victory. The ‘talking’ Brown refers to has to be a reference to Graeme Murty’s rather unwise claim that the Gers players cheered the Scottish Cup semi-final draw. That would have been noted by Brown, who no doubt has taken great pleasure in leading a ten man Hoops side to their fourth consecutive victory at Ibrox. Brown will no doubt all use the cheers as motivation for the Scottish Cup semi-final next month, where he will be determined to once again defeat the Ibrox side and lead the Hoops one step closer to a second consecutive domestic treble.
