Thiago Silva sends Marc Cucurella message from Stamford Bridge stands at Chelsea

Thiago Silva sent a message to Marc Cucurella after celebrating him from the stands for his Chelsea goal in their 2-1 win over Brentford.

Enzo Maresca’s side continued their excellent recent run with victory over the Bees at Stamford Bridge on Sunday (15 December), with the left-back opening the scoring in that match.

His header from a Noni Madueke cross was the perfect response after his costly slips against Tottenham the week before, and former Blues favourite Silva was one man who certainly seemed to enjoy.

Taking to his Instagram story while at Stamford Bridge for the match, the Brazilian posted a video from the stands of Chelsea celebrating that Cucurella goal.

The centre-back, who left the club in the summer after four years, directed the message at both Chelsea and their left-back with the caption: “Cuuuucurelaaaaaaaa”.

Thiago Silva’s passion for Chelsea still clear to see

Football Insider Opinion

Even at the latter stages of his career, Silva was still something of a shining late for the Blues during his time at Stamford Bridge.

While Chelsea endured an increasingly tough run during the centre-back’s run with the club which started with trophies and ended with the takeover disarray, it was rare to see him not being identified as a player who could hold his high even after poor results.

His leadership qualities on the pitch were vital for them as he showed commitment that any fan would want from a player in their side.

It is therefore perhaps no surprise to see that Silva still has that level of passion and investment for the Blues, even though he no longer plays for them.

Indeed, given how popular he made himself while playing for Chelsea the fact he clearly still cares for them so much will no doubt mean a great deal to supporters as well.

After having seen the club come through a tough spell while he was there, the 40-year-old will surely be delighted to see they now appear to be moving in the right direction again.

In other news, one club are planning to re-sign a player from Chelsea in the January transfer window.
