Thiago Silva sends message to Chelsea fans after ‘return to club’

Chelsea are continuing to search for a centre-back as reliable as Thiago Silva following his departure in 2024, but now the Brazil international has been reminiscing on his time at the club.

Silva spent four years at Stamford Bridge and quickly became a fan favourite during that time as he won over the hearts of supporters.

The 40-year-old departed Chelsea last summer to return to Fluminense in a bid to end his career in Brazil, but the Blues have remained close in his heart.

Silva has since returned to London to watch Chelsea play, attending their 2-1 victory against Brentford on 15 December at Stamford Bridge.

Silva made 155 appearances for Chelsea in all competitions, being a regular under each manager that he played for after being signed by current Coventry boss Frank Lampard.

During his time playing for the Premier League giants, he won the Champions League, Super Cup, and the Club World Cup.

Chelsea are still looking to strengthen at the back

Silva was a regular in the Chelsea team during his time at the club, showcasing excellent leadership and a high standard of performance.

The Blues have struggled to nail down a regular centre-back pairing since his departure and that is an issue that the club are aiming to try and address this summer.

Industry insider Mick Brown exclusively revealed to Football Insider that Chelsea are looking for “somebody like John Terry” who will set expectations and demand the same from their teammates.
