This Aston Villa 28-year-old is a better performer and option than inconsistent Tottenham ace
COMMENT by Amir Mir
Tottenham ace Ben Davies will be preparing for an important World Cup qualifier against the Republic of Ireland on Friday night.
The Premier League left-back will face stiff competition from Championship defender Neil Taylor for a place in Chris Coleman’s side.
Despite Davies playing regular first-team football in recent weeks since the injury to Danny Rose, the Welshman has still performed inconsistently at the highest level.
Therefore, Coleman must choose Taylor ahead of his defensive counterpart, despite the former Swansea man playing in a division below.
Since Taylor made a January switch to Aston Villa, he has performed consistently and with solidity for Steve Bruce’s side.
Therefore, the 28-year-old is a better performer and option for Coleman on the international stage as the Red Dragons will be aiming to replicate the form that won them plaudits at Euro 2016.
Spearheaded by the powerful and dynamic Gareth Bale, the young and vibrant Welsh side are full of spirit, determination and talent.
Taylor epitomised all of that in one with his standout performances at the Euro’s last summer which saw Coleman’s side reach the semi-final’s of the competition.
The former Premier League player played every minute for his country, including finding the back of the net during an emphatic 3-0 win against Russia.
In other Tottenham news, this first teamer has vented his frustration at Mauricio Pochettino’s snub.
