‘This has made my day’ – Aston Villa fans are all in dreamland after ‘amazing’ news confirmed
Aston Villa’s resurgence continued over the weekend as they made it three Premier League victories in a row.
On Sunday, October 20, Aston Villa secured a 2-1 win over Tottenham to move up to 11th in the table after struggling in their first four matches.
Morgan Rogers produced a moment of class against Spurs, while Emi Buendia’s cultured left-footed finish was an early contender for Goal of the Season.
The Argentine playmaker ended off an incredible team move, which began with Matty Cash’s extraordinary cross-field switch before Luca Digne’s world-class touch and lay off opened the space for Buendia to finish.
It was a goal good enough to win any match, and arguably one of the best Aston Villa have scored in the Premier League.

Matty Cash is set to sign new Aston Villa contract
Supporters would have been overjoyed to see their side come from behind to win, and even happier watching Cash continue his excellent start to the campaign.
Cash has often been criticised by Villa fans, mainly for his lack of defensive awareness, but during the 2025/26 season, the Poland international has been almost faultless.
The 28-year-old has started every game at right-back, offering his side energy and dynamism in abundance.
It’s the level of form every fan was waiting for him to produce, and coincidentally, it may have just landed him a new contract.

As reported by The Athletic’s Jacob Tanswell, Cash has ‘reached an agreement’ in principle over a new contract at Aston Villa until 2029, including the option of a further year.
This news comes after John McGinn looks set to sign a new deal at Villa, while talks are ongoing to tie down Morgan Rogers, Pau Torres and Youri Tielemans.

Aston Villa fans react to Matty Cash contract news
Villa are refreshingly looking to the future with their decision-making, and signing Cash to a new deal is one that shows their willingness to reward form and loyalty.
Cash was linked with a return to Nottingham Forest during the summer window, but reports suggested that Evangelos Marinakis left it too late to strike a deal.
Now, after seeing the news that their Polish dynamo is set to commit his future to the club, fans are understandably delighted.
“Can we all now acknowledge that Cashy has been, and continues to be, our best RB of the Premier League era. Man’s a bona fide athlete, has improved drastically as a player under the tutelage of Unai and is great in the dressing room,” one fan wrote.
“Well deserved for both. The ‘FT’ Villa kids who constantly slate both of them off will be fuming,” someone else commented.
“At his peak and delivering high quality this season. Matty deserves the new contract,” a third pointed out.
So we'll deserved. Even before his performances this season. He's become a bit of a leader, you can see he takes responsibility in games now rather than putting head down if he makes any mistakes .

What a difference a few weeks makes. He is in the best form of his career, in my opinion. He still has an error in him, that will never change, but he understands Emery's remit. His head never drops, he never stops running and he's clearly a top, top team mate. https://t.co/UCYdgDUzLI
