This is how Premier League clubs can seal bargain Yan Diomande transfer, Liverpool and Man United on alert
RB Leipzig could lose Yan Diomande for a fraction of his current valuation should they miss out on Champions League qualification.
That is according to talkSPORT (17 February), who have reported that the Bundesliga giants have placed an £80million price tag on the winger, who has nine goals and five assists this season.
Chelsea are joined by Liverpool and Man United in the race for the 19-year-old’s signature, with the Merseysiders sending scouts to Leipzig’s 2-2 draw with Wolfsburg on Sunday, 15 February.
Of course, Diomande was on target as the Red Bulls pulled the score back twice, but with just a point at home, the side are currently sitting fifth in the Bundesliga, two points outside the Champions League spaces.
What has Yan Diomande said about a move to the Premier League?
Diomande has had to speak about his future on more than one occasion, and those at Anfield might have more to be excited about following his comments.
Speaking earlier this month [beIN Sports], he replied to rumours about Liverpool, saying: “People made it out to be my dream club. But first and foremost, it’s my dad’s favourite club.
“It was always his great wish to see me there someday because he loves the atmosphere at Anfield. We didn’t even have a TV at home for a long time. I have a lot of respect for Liverpool, but my dream club right now is Leipzig.”
The former Leganes gem is clearly insistent on being loyal, a trait that any Premier League club would want in a future player, but he has refused to budge on the rumours surrounding his next move.
What would Diomande’s arrival mean at Anfield?
While there are rumours that Mohamed Salah could sign a new deal at Liverpool, Diomande could, in fact, be seen as an exciting replacement for the Egyptian superstar.
There are very few who could make the same impact on Merseyside as Salah has done over the past nine years, but the Leipzig winger certainly would bring a new dimension to Arne Slot’s attack.
With the ability to play on both wings, it also throws Cody Gakpo’s future in doubt, given that he has done very little this season to impress the supporters.
Despite this, the Dutchman remains a regular under the manager, but there is only so long that the fans can put up with a passenger on the left wing at Anfield.
The Reds are in desperate need of a shake-up in the squad, and the summer of 2026 could be the perfect for the new manager to do that.
