This may be real reason Sanchez has been ‘transformed’ at Tottenham – Pundit
Noel Whelan has claimed that Nuno Espirito Santo’s appointment has “transformed” defender Davinson Sanchez at Tottenham.
The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, said that the Colombian has been given a “new lease of life” under the new Spurs boss.
Tottenham’s centre-half partnership of Sanchez and Eric Dier has been impregnable so far this season, with Spurs yet to concede after three Premier League games.
The duo’s performances are keeping new Tottenham signing Cristian Romero out of the eleven.
The Argentine has played just one top-flight minute this season since his arrival from Atalanta.
Sanchez made just 17 starts last season in the Premier League, with former boss Jose Mourinho often instead opting for Dier and Toby Alderwiereld.
Whelan claimed that Sanchez has been given a confidence boost since the departure of the controversial ex-Chelsea boss.
“He’s been transformed, absolutely,” he told Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs.
“Under Mourinho, he was a different player, we didn’t see the player that’s around now under Nuno.“
“He’s obviously given him the belief, the confidence, and he’s showing faith in him.
“That’s what can happen, players can feel like they’ve got a new lease of life.
“Sometimes certain managers can get the best out of certain players.
“I think it’s a fantastic appointment, especially given Tottenham’s start to the season – and they’ve kept Harry Kane.
“Everyone seems to be enjoying their football, and enjoying working under him.”

Sanchez joined Tottenham from Ajax in 2017 for a fee potentially rising to £42million.
Since then, the 25-year-old has played 152 times for the Lilywhites, scoring three.
