Thomas Frank could lure ‘great player’ to Spurs, ‘I’m sure they’re talking’

Thomas Frank is being urged to sign one player at Spurs in the January transfer window to change their fortunes in attack.

Spurs’ 2-2 draw against Man United currently sees the north London club sitting in fifth position in the Premier League table during the international break.

However, Spurs’ 1-0 defeat to Chelsea a week earlier had left fans fuming at the teams lack of attacking threat, with an expected goals of just 0.11 generated.

Spurs fans are turning on Frank, who may look to bolster his attacking options in January with Dominic Solanke out injured and Richarlison out of form.

Ivan Toney has ‘got to go to Tottenham’

Ivan Toney is linked with a return to the Premier League in January, with the 29-year-old currently playing in Saudi Arabia.

Speaking to Sky Sports, [11 November], former Spurs winger David Bentley believes the logical choice for Toney is linking up with Frank, whom he worked under at Brentford.

He’s a great player, scoring goals in the Premier League is not easy and the way he did it, the way he plays the game, the way he’s comfortable on the ball, he scores goals,” Bentley said.

Tottenham, he’s got to go to Tottenham surely under Thomas Frank, he’s had a great time with him at Brentford, I’m sure they’re talking and I’m sure that would be the number one destination for him to go.

I think Tottenham are struggling with centre forwards at the minute, [Dominic] Solanke’s out injured and Richarlison’s not at the level that he needs to be and he’s potentially Tottenham’s new signing in January on loan.

“I think that’s the perfect destination for him, if he wants to get into the England team, its not about money, it’s about playing and getting into that World Cup squad which is where everyone wants to be, I think the perfect environment is Tottenham.”

Everton to battle Spurs for Toney signing

Football Insider exclusively revealed that Spurs can only sign Toney if either Solanke or Richarlison leave the club.

Richarlison is linked with a move to former club Everton, whose woes in the number nine position may mean they make a move in January.

Everton though are one of the other clubs interested in Toney, with competition set to be fierce for his signature.
