Thomas Frank has few ‘realistic options’ to solve one Spurs problem

Thomas Frank is facing one glaring at issue at Spurs, which he has been warned will not be easy to solve.

Frank has started his first Premier League season at the club positively, with Spurs’ 2-1 win at Leeds before the international break lifting them up to third in the table.

Bournemouth’s 1-0 win at Spurs, is Frank’s only defeat in charge of the club so far with the north London side on a current seven match unbeaten run in all competitions.

Spurs owners have injected £100million into the club, which may help Frank as he looks to fix one issue on the pitch despite his excellent start.

Spurs ‘lacking’ a striker despite positive start

Spurs may have scored 13 goals in seven Premier League games, but Frank’s strikers are all struggling for form.

BBC Sport‘s senior football correspondent Sami Mokbel, [14 October] thinks it will be hard for Frank to sign a proven goal scorer in the next transfer window.

“On the face of their early season performances it is clear that one area they are lacking in is at No 9,”Mokbel said.

Identifying it as an area to strengthen is one thing, but actually going out and signing someone better than what you already have is far easier said than done.

The realistic options are few and far between. We should also remember that Tottenham have been without recognised centre forward Dominic Solanke this season which has been a major blow to Frank for obvious reasons.

Richarlison has done a very good job starting the season as the team’s No 9. But Solanke was signed for a lot of money in the summer of 2024 and, you’d imagine he will come straight into the team when he is fit.”

Dominic Solanke joined Spurs for £65m from Bournemouth in 2024, but his time in north London has been hindered by numerous injury problems.

Thomas Frank receives Randal Kolo Muani boost

Frank did sign PSG forward Randal Kolo Munai on loan late in the transfer window, but the 26-year-old has only featured once for Spurs so far.

However, during the international break, Kolo Muani played 45 minutes in a behind closed doors match against Watford.

The Frenchman may therefore be in contention to be apart of the squad for the match against Aston Villa.

Kolo Muani can play anywhere across the forward line and scored eight goals in 16 appearances for Juventus last season.
