‘Thomas Frank sacking will not solve Tottenham’s problems’
Thomas Frank is under increasing pressure at Tottenham, but sacking the manager will do little to reverse the growing frustrations around the club.
That is according to former Tottenham and Man United senior scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected at his former clubs, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the club are not currently set up for any manager to be a success.
Spurs lost 2-1 to Fulham last time out, adding to the brewing anger amongst the supporters as they slid to 12th in the Premier League table after 13 games played.
However, their disappointing start to the season comes off the back of what was another dismal spell under Ange Postecoglou, with similar problems recurring.
Concerns about last term’s 17th-placed finish were eased by their Europa League success, but the deep-rooted issues go beyond surface-level results.

Tottenham have deeper issues than Thomas Frank
Brown told Football Insider on 1 December that Tottenham are keen to stick by Frank as they are investing in a long-term project under his stewardship.
The former scout, who has a wealth of experience working alongside elite-level managers including the likes of Sir Alex Ferguson for over a decade at Man United, insisted that Tottenham must deal with their ongoing issues regardless of the boss’ future.
“Of course there’s going to be pressure on the manager,” he told Football Insider.
“Anything that happens at Tottenham doesn’t surprise me, they could beat Newcastle 3-0 or they could lose 3-0, and it wouldn’t come as a shock either way.
“They don’t seem to be able to put consistent runs together, and even when you think they might have turned a corner, something else comes up.
“But the biggest problem is, it doesn’t seem to change no matter who the manager is, they’re having the same issues under Frank as they had under Postecoglou.
“There are deeper problems there beyond what the manager can do on the pitch, so if they were to now go and bring somebody else in, it wouldn’t change things.
“It’s been that way for a long period, they go through spells of very good times and spells of disastrous times, it’s ‘typical Tottenham’ which is now something everybody knows.
“There need to be big changes made, regardless of the manager’s position, to get to the bottom of those deeper issues and turn things around for the club.”
Frank eyes Tottenham squad overhaul as he seeks backing
Brown told Football Insider that Frank is eyeing an overhaul of his Tottenham squad, with major changes part of his plans to reverse their recent fortunes.
The boss is set to push for further improvements to mould the squad to suit his style, but despite the board’s backing off the pitch, their spending may be limited.
Football Insider revealed on 25 November that Tottenham want to sign a striker and a winger in January as priority positions to strengthen Frank’s starting XI.

However, there are doubts about whether Tottenham will be prepared to give him the backing he desires when the January transfer window opens.
While the club remains in a strong financial position, the extend of their willingness to spend has been questioned following a frustrating summer window.
