De Vries turned in another dreadful display in Europe against Zenit, as he was made to look foolish as he failed to deal with Daler Kuzyaev’s swerving shot which put the Russian side 2-0 up on the night.
The 37-year-old has never convinced since joining the Hoops in 2016, and Aberdeen will be adapting a shoot on sight policy on the Dutchman, as they will feel he is liable to make a mistake.
He should be replaced by recent arrival from Dundee Scott Bain, who will be playing with a point to prove after falling out with Dens Park boss Neil McCann.
