Hang your heads: Three Leeds players who most let Christiansen down – The Verdict

Pierre-Michel Lasogga

As the club’s biggest earner, Lasogga was expected to shoulder the goalscoring burden in return for trousering Leeds’ £15,000-a-week contribution to his £50,000-a-week salary. After a promising start, the German has been a disappointment, with a perplexing two-and-a-half month winter break before his two-goal salvo against Millwall prompting many United fans to consider sending out a search party to track him down. In the final analysis, Lasogga has not lived up to his billing, and seven goals in 20 matches is pretty thin gruel for a player who was nearly selected for the Germany World Cup-winning squad of 2014. Christiansen mostly stuck by the front man but was not rewarded enough.
In other Leeds United news, a 48-year-old has been installed as the huge favourite to be the club’s next manager.
