Celtic must join reported race to sign 26-year-old Championship captain, three reasons why

Brendan Rodgers must bring a new central defender to Celtic before the end of the transfer window and Wolves captain Danny Batth should be at the top of his shortlist.

The Daily Mail claims the 26-year-old defender is interesting Championship big hitters Hull City, Sheffield Wednesday and Aston Villa with his future at Molineux in doubt.

It is said that the Championship expert could leave the club this summer after Wolves brought in Willy Boly from Porto on loan and Roderick Miranda from Rio Ave.

Making 41 appearances in the Championship last season, the former Sheffield Wednesday ace scored four goals and played a crucial part in helping the Midlands outfit avoid relegation.

With three years remaining on his contract, it remains to be seen how much Batth would cost but it seems clear that his future may not be at Wolves anymore.
