Midfielder must be axed: Three things learned about Celtic from win v Anderlecht

COMMENT By James Black

Celtic picked up their first Champions League win in four years against Anderlecht after goals from Leigh Griffiths, Patrick Roberts and Scott Sinclair gave the Hoops a 3-0 win in Belgium.

Brendan Rodgers’ side struggled to get to grips with the Belgians early in the game before taking the lead just before the break through Griffiths.

Second-half strikes from Roberts and Sinclair made the result secure as the Bhoys won away from home in the Champions League for only the second time in quarter of a century.

With both sides expected to be fighting for third place in Group B, the win could prove invaluable for the Bhoys as they aim for European football after Christmas.

Both sides lost their opening group game and meet again on matchday six in a fixture which could end up as a dead rubber before a ball is kicked.

Celtic will come away with one big concern however after captain Scott Brown limped off with an apparent hamstring injury after 20 minutes which takes us nicely into the first of three things we learned for Celtic’s win.
