The free-spending French side are on a different footballing planet to Celtic and over the two games in the Champions League between the sides, it showed.
The gap between the Scottish champions and Europe’s elite clubs has never been bigger and as long as the financial gulf widens so will the difference in quality on the pitch.
Rodgers’ side – purely from a competitive standpoint – would be better served in the Europa League where there’s less of a huge financial split.
Something will need to change for clubs like the Hoops to be able to have a chance of competing on the park with clubs capable of spending tens – or even hundreds – of millions on a single player.
