The German defender was almost certain to have been a surefire pick when he completes his move on January 1st but Dedryck Boyata’s performance against Thistle has guaranteed it.
The Belgian defender continually has struggled alongside a long list of defensive partners but once Compper arrives surely Rodgers will axe Boyata and pair the soon-to-be former RB Leipzig with someone else.
Boyata has a good pedigree but similar to Stuart Armstrong doesn’t show it anywhere near enough and needs to improve.
With three more games before the end of the year, Celtic just need to hope Boyata doesn’t make any calamitous mistakes before then.
