31-year-old should be axed: Three things we learned about Leeds in draw against Ipswich
COMMENT By Harvey Byrne
Football Insider analyses three talking points from Leeds’ 1-1 draw against Ipswich in the Championship on Saturday afternoon.
Hernandez should be axed
Pablo Hernandez showed his quality in midweek as he provided both an assist and a goal for his team as Leeds ran out 2-1 victors over Bristol City. However, on Saturday he was extremely poor and was often the reason why the Yorkshire giants surrendered possession. Whether it’s due to the 31-year-old now not being capable to play two Championship games in quick succession, or that he is incapable to play away from Elland Road when his side have to put up more of a fight more the three points. However, what is clear is that Kemar Roofe is very able to fill in for Hernandez and the Spaniard should be axed for matches like the one at Portman Road.
Wood is ready for the Premier League
Chris Wood has been vital for Leeds this season and has returned with a very impressive 19 goals from 32 Championship matches. He continued to show his quality on Saturday afternoon and the New Zealand international worked the ball magnificently as he fed the ball to Stuart Dallas for the Yorkshire giants’ equaliser. It is clear that Wood is now ready for the Premier League after struggling to make an impact with both West Brom and Leicester in the top flight in the past. Now, it is just a question of whether he will return to the Premier League with Leeds or another club in the future.
Sacko simply not good enough
There has often been claims that the one thing Hadi Sacko is lacking is a final ball and that was evident once again at Portman Road. The 22-year-old has the pace and trickery needed to be a success in Yorkshire. However, with a return of just two goals and four assists in 32 appearances for the club that means nothing if he is not contributing for the team. Fortunately for Leeds the player is on loan at the club and it will be very surprising if the club make it a permanent deal if they do win promotion to the top flight.
