While Hayden was industrious as usual, it was the Spaniard who shone, with an energetic and dynamic display against his established counterparts.

It was one of his best performances in a Newcastle shirt and was key in breaking up Arsenal’s attacking threat.

Still, his display needs to be matched by those around him if the Magpies are to escape their relegation battle.
