Three things learned about Newcastle in Chelsea defeat: Fans’ favourite must take blame

Murphy looking like the real deal

There were serious doubts over Jacob Murphy’s performances at the start of the season but he appears to have allayed worries with his run in the starting line up.

Direct, quick and not afraid to take people on, he is exactly what Newcastle have been lacking over recent seasons, and is perhaps even more of a threat than missing winger Christian Atsu.

He is young and inexperienced, but game time will add quality to the attributes he already possesses, and he could establish himself among the first team for some time.
