Regular duo must be axed: Three things learned in Newcastle win v Crystal Palace
Magpies their own worst enemies
What a difference a week can make.
Last Sunday saw Newcastle taking the game to Southampton, pressuring the Saints and carving out some pretty decent opportunities.
The same cannot be said about the performance against Palace, which was lacklustre and left the Magpies looking bereft of ideas.
They were also sloppy in possession and constantly gave the ball away to the away side, which in turn kept the defence under threat.
To be fair, Palace lacked the cutting edge needed to get past Rob Elliot but against better opposition Benitez would have seen his side ripped to shreds.
They really were their own worst enemies and they need to get that out their system sooner rather than later.
