Three things learned about Newcastle v Leicester: Fans’ favourite under threat

Goal fails to transform Joselu

Back into the starting XI, there was little more that Joselu could have done to repay his manager’s faith in the opening moments.

Four minutes in and he was in the right place at the right time to turn Dwight Gayle’s cutback past Kasper Schmeichel in the Leicester goal and give the Magpies the lead.

However it did not appear to be the catalyst needed to lift his performances to the next level, as he failed to impress for the next 41 minutes, cutting a forlorn figure up top.

His second half display saw him head wide from a Matt Ritchie corner.
