Three things learned about Newcastle v Leicester: Fans’ favourite under threat
Benitez needs to adapt his 4-4-2 approach
There is no doubt that Rafa Benitez was brave in operating a 4-4-2 formation against a Leicester City side renowned for their counter attacking football, and it failed to pay off in the first half at St James’ Park.
The Foxes dominated the midfield and it resulted in several chances for the away side, with Mikel Merino and Isaac Hayden horribly overwhelmed by the three opposition players in the centre of the park.
The manager is right for trying to implement an attacking focus to try boost not only his players but the fans, but he must find a way to help support those in the midfield or risk giving other sides the chance to overrun the Magpies.
