Newcastle have been desperately unlucky in recent weeks, with things just not falling their way on their abysmal run of form, and it appeared to be going the same way against the Hammers.
The penalty given due to Ciaran Clark’s foul appeared to be outside the box, but it was Rob Elliot who made sure it did not affect the result, and such luck, if it can be called that, is what the Magpies were needing more than anything.
This victory could be the turning point for Newcastle, and it was all down to the Magpies making their own luck.
